I have written about nutrient deficiencies in vegetarians that I have often seen in my clinical practice, or have been reported in the litterature. I am not against vegetarianism, but I am highly concerned about nutrient deficiencies occurring from lacking knowledge of nutrition in many new vegetarians. It seems to me that this is a quite common and underestimated problem - in my experience the majority has some deficiency of essential nutrients because they are not found in vegetarian food in sufficient amounts.
